Define what turnkey means for your project
Turnkey should describe an agreed outcome and scope, not simply a label attached to an equipment quote. Establish the system boundary, required performance, utilities, site conditions and handover criteria before the delivery responsibilities are allocated.
A project may involve equipment supply, foundations, mechanical installation, electrical work, controls and commissioning. Each discipline needs a defined owner. P3 coordinates procurement and project requirements with the relevant technical parties around the agreed scope.
Resolve interfaces early
Equipment must connect to the existing plant. Available power, pipe sizes, access, structural support and controls interfaces can affect both the solution and the installation sequence. A site assessment may be needed where the available information is incomplete.
Identify exclusions clearly: for example, enabling works, civil work, lifting arrangements or changes to existing systems. Confirm who is responsible for each before the project is committed. This supports a realistic commercial comparison and reduces gaps between contractors.
Link execution to handover
Installation planning should identify access requirements, isolation responsibilities, inspection points and the evidence required for acceptance. The appointed competent parties must define the technical and safety requirements appropriate to the work.
Handover can include equipment manuals, as-built information, agreed test records and operator familiarisation where included in scope. The deliverable list should be established in advance so documentation does not become an unresolved task after installation.
